Steps for Installing DSA2009 for a Restricted User
Un-installing Prior Versions No Longer Required
Any older versions of DSA need not be un-installed before installing
DSA2009. This provides increased peace of mind that your prior case data
remains intact.
Installing DSA2009 from a CD
Insert the CD into your CD or DVD drive. The CD has been set to automatically start the setup program when it is inserted into
the drive, provided you have not disabled the auto-start feature of your CD or DVD drive.
If the setup program does not start automatically, start it by clicking Start at the lower left of your Windows desktop, followed by Run. In the “Open” text box type d:\setup.exe (where “d” is the drive letter of your CD drive). Click OK. Alternately, you may click Start and Run, then click the Browse button. Navigate to your CD drive and select setup.exe. Click Open. Click OK.
A Setup Wizard will guide you through the installation process. By default, the wizard will suggest that you install DSA to the C:\ProgramFiles\DSA2009 folder. We suggest that you accept the default installation folder. You can however, if you wish, install DSA2009 to any other folder.
Once you have installed DSA2009, your installation folder will contain two subfolders: Cases and Data. The Cases folder is the default folder where cases will be saved. The Data folder contains the Tax Tables for the years up to 2009.
The program itself, DSA2009.exe, will be placed in the installation folder and a shortcut to the program will be added to your Programs menu.
See additional instructions below for Windows Vista or for Restricted User Installation.

Steps to Install DSA2009 for a Restricted User
- Log in as an administrator to the computer.
- Install DSA2009 either from the web or your CD.
- 3. Be sure the administrator has full control of the folder where DSA2009 is installed. By default, that folder will be C:\Program Files\DSA2009.
- Activate DSA2009 as the administrator.
- Set up a user as a Restricted user.
- Give Read and Write permissions to the “C:\Program Files\DSA2009” (or other installation) folder and its subfolders for that restricted user.
Note – if you try to run DSA as the restricted user prior to activating DSA as the administrator or prior to establishing the restricted user permissions you may foul the license file. If that is the case, you will need to redo the installation after fully uninstalling DSA2009.
